Honorable Founders
Hazrat Qazi Fazlur Rahman Saharanpuri (rh)
Hazrat Qazi Fazlur Rahman Saharanpuri (rh), a distinguished disciple of Hazrat Haji Imdadullah Muhajir Makki (rh) and a close follower of Hazrat Hafiz Zaamin Shaheed (rh), is a name that requires no introduction. He was one of the early key figures and the second rector of Mazahir Uloom Saharanpur. He was an exceptionally pious and virtuous person, known for his generosity, kindness, and attentive care for the seminary's affairs, leaving a lasting impression through his charitable deeds. Only Allah can reward him for his efforts.
Among the noble souls who helped establish Mazahir Uloom as a center of knowledge and reform, his name shines brightly. He was deeply involved in both the major and minor affairs of the seminary and served as a right-hand man to its founder, Hazrat Maulana Sa’adat Ali Saharanpuri (rh). When Hazrat Maulana Sa’adat Ali passed away in 1286 AH, the responsibility of managing the seminary was transferred to Qazi Sahib, and he fulfilled his duties with great skill until 1290 AH.
In 1291 AH, Hazrat Maulana Ahmad Ali Muhaddis Saharanpuri (rh) became his assistant, and both their names began to appear in the seminary's records as rectors. Hazrat Maulana Ahmad Ali passed away in 1297 AH, and Qazi Sahib, due to his old age, became weak. Therefore, a committee was formed consisting of Hazrat Maulana Faizul Hassan (rh), Hazrat Maulana Zulfiqar Ali (rh), Hazrat Maulana Ahmad Hassan (rh), Hazrat Maulana Khaleelur Rahman (rh), and Deputy Najaf Ali. These individuals not only supported Qazi Sahib but also took a keen interest in the seminary's affairs.
On the 3rd of Rajab, 1322 AH, he was appointed as a member of the Shura Council and strengthened this esteemed position throughout his life. He passed away on the 15th of Shawwal, 1326 AH (November 10, 1908 CE), on a Tuesday, and was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard adjacent to the Eidgah.
The records of Mazahir Uloom honor Qazi Sahib's achievements and services with the following words:
"No pious individual is unaware of the virtues and attributes of Hazrat Qazi Fazlur Rahman (rh). His dedication to Islamic service was a natural trait, and his inherent prestige and ability significantly contributed to the success and welfare of the Muslim community in Saharanpur. All Muslims considered his presence invaluable in religious matters, and without his guidance, many important religious affairs could not have been undertaken. He was the main advisor and counselor in all religious matters. From the very beginning of the seminary until now, he consistently provided support in every capacity, offering financial assistance and essential supplies even during times of weakness. His departure is a cause for deep sorrow and a great loss. May Allah immerse him in His mercy." (Rudād Mazahir Uloom, 1326 AH)
